Dvořák 7, up close: an intimate concert-lecture with the Brussels Philharmonic and conductor Michael Seal at Salle Malibran. For one afternoon, we are creating our own take on the musical salon at the Salle Malibran, right in the heart of the La Monnaie workshops. Come and grab a seat as close to the orchestra as possible!

On the programme: Antonín Dvořák’s Seventh Symphony, a true outlier. Unlike his upbeat Eighth and Ninth, this bold work is packed with melancholy and stormy tragedy. It is direct, powerful, and deeply moving. Conductor Michael Seal takes you inside the music, sharing stories about the composer and how the orchestra brings the piece to life. “Love, God, and my native land” Inspired by Brahms’s Third, Dvořák knew from his first sketches that his Czech homeland would take center stage.
