FARI2026 — Visit our CAVE Immersive Space

Discover how Digital Twins are evolving in Brussels. Through four CAVE visits, explore different applications, from urban data and traffic prediction to the Policy Twin platform and its technical architecture. Choose and register for the session(s) that best match(es) your interests. To ensure everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the experience, each person may book only one spot for one session. Multiple bookings are not permitted. Location: CAVE, 4th floor -- CAVE VISIT 1 — From Digital Twin to Traffic Twin: The Brussels Journey Time: 9:00 - 10:15 This workshop will explore the evolution of Digital Twins in Brussels, starting with a walkthrough of an earlier Brussels Digital Twin and its urban datasets, while highlighting architectural limitations such as heavy processing requirements, limited browser accessibility, and complexity for policymakers. We will then demonstrate the Traffic Twin, showing how machine learning can be used to predict traffic congestion and support more accessible, data-driven decision-making. CAVE VISIT 2 — Traffic Twin in Action: Predicting Urban Congestion with AI Time: 10:45 - 12.30 This workshop will explore the evolution of Digital Twins in Brussels, starting with a walkthrough of an earlier Brussels Digital Twin and its urban datasets, while highlighting architectural limitations such as heavy processing requirements, limited browser accessibility, and complexity for policymakers. We will then demonstrate the Traffic Twin, showing how machine learning can be used to predict traffic congestion and support more accessible, data-driven decision-making. CAVE VISIT 3 — Policy Twin in Action: Connecting Urban Data for Better Decisions Time: 13:30 - 15.00 An introduction to the Policy Twin platform, demonstrating how diverse urban datasets can be brought together in a browser-accessible environment to support exploration, visualisation, and policy-oriented decision-making, exploring the need for a dataspace platform. CAVE VISIT 4 — Inside the Policy Twin: Architecture, Interoperability & Standards Time: 15:30 - 17:00 A more technical exploration of the Policy Twin architecture, focusing on interoperability, global and European standards, data integration, multi-scale Digital Twin approaches, and browser-based accessibility, with the session shaped around participant questions and discussion.
