Impact of EBR and ICBAN on Peace and Stability in the Border Area

EBR and ICBAN: turning cross-border cooperation into peace, despite constant challenges. East Border Region (EBR) and the Irish Central Border Area Network (ICBAN) are delighted to invite you to a showcase event hosted by the Northern Ireland Executive Office titled: "Impact of EBR and ICBAN in contributing to peace and stability along the Ireland-Northern Ireland border area" This event showcases the impact EBR and ICBAN - the two cross-border local authority networks spanning the Ireland-Northern Ireland border - have and continue to have in strengthening institutional resilience, governance and cooperation between local authorities on both sides of the border, and their contribution to peace and stability in the region. The event marks a significant year for EBR, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026. This showcase will detail EBR's work to date and how BRIDGE (Building Resilient Institutions for Development, Governance & Engagement) - a cross-border initiative supported by PEACEPLUS and delivered in partnership between EBR and ICBAN across 12 partner councils - is building institutional resilience through a Leadership & Skills Development training programme reaching over 775 council officers and elected members, and a Collaboration & Institutional Networks strand establishing cross-border working groups and a Consensus-Based Decision-Making Framework co-designed directly with participating councils.
