Full description from organizerShow less
Immerse yourself in the magical world of music from the beloved fantasy film saga inspired by the novels of J.K. Rowling an enchanting event for the whole family and an experience not to be missed. Performed by Ma’at Ensemble at the historic Musical Instruments Museum (MIM) in the heart of Brussels, one of the city’s most distinctive cultural landmarks, this programme invites audiences of all ages to rediscover the unforgettable atmosphere of the famous Harry Potter films through their most iconic musical themes, bringing to life the emotion, adventure and magic of the story. The film’s soundtrack was masterfully composed by John Williams. The composer wrote the music in Los Angeles and at Tanglewood, before it was recorded at Abbey Road and Air Lyndhurst studios in London in September 2001. The film features many characteristic leitmotifs, most of which returned in the second part of the franchise, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The main composition, Hedwig’s Theme, appears in modified form throughout all the films. The soundtrack was released on CD on 30 October 2001. On 14 December 2001, the soundtrack was certified gold in Canada, with 50,000 units sold, and in January 2002 in Japan, with 100,000 units sold. In 2002, John Williams was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Score, but the award went to Howard Shore for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, music from which can also be heard at our concerts. The album was a success, peaking at number 48 on the Billboard 200 and number two on the Top Soundtracks chart. In the official UK charts, the album reached number 19. The concert is organised by the creative agency RED EVENTS & Distribution Ltd., known for producing exceptional cultural experiences in historic mansions, on rooftops, in greenhouses, and in some of the most atmospheric venues across Europe, the United Kingdom, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and beyond. Their repertoire also includes a distinctive collection of candlelit concerts and fully immersive performances combining video art and sound. PERFORMERS 🎻 Ma’at Ensemble Founded by cellist Jolien Deley and first violinist Griet Wiame, Ma'at began as a string quartet for the first performances of IBE, winner of The Voice van Vlaanderen 2019, and has since grown into a close-knit and versatile ensemble. Ma'at moves effortlessly between classical repertoire, film music, pop and contemporary music, creating its own arrangements for both live performances and studio recordings. Depending on the programme, the ensemble performs in different formations, from smaller chamber groups to larger string ensembles. Like the Egyptian goddess whose name they share, Ma'at stands for authenticity, harmony and reliability. The ensemble has performed at major venues and festivals including Rock Werchter, Ancienne Belgique, AFAS Live and the Ziggo Dome, and has appeared alongside artists such as Stan Van Samang, Tom Dice and Regi. Ma'at is also active in film and television recording, contributing to scores by composer Ruben De Gheselle, including Young Hearts, Voor de Meisjes, Northern Lights, Patience and Clara Sola. All four founding members are also part of The Symphony of Unity, Tomorrowland's symphonic orchestra, with whom they recorded the orchestra's first album.
