The Called Conference: Theology of the Body

The Called Conference is a gathering place for sexual discipleship and spiritual formation. You are a body. And you are much more than a body. The theology of the body has been a foundational doctrine of the Christian church since its conception. The Christian tradition places value on the entirety of a person—body, soul, and spirit. Each one of us is made in God’s image and carries definitive value. We are woven together with the threads of the material and immaterial, and for this reason, every disciple of Jesus Christ is called to understand their identity as a son or daughter of God. Beyond that, we are each called to find our place within the Body of Christ, leaning on the orthodoxy that was entrusted to the early church thousands of years ago. Join us for this year’s Called Conference, where we will be exploring: • what it looks like to find joy and confidence in a culture brimming with body dysmorphia, gender dysphoria, comparison and insecurity. • how to fight loneliness and be better connected within your church community. • the theology around sexuality, morality and anthropology that has held steady through the centuries. • how to honour the legitimate needs of your body, without letting physical desires rule your life. • the significance that your femaleness or maleness brings to your relationship with God and others. • why you no longer have to be defined by the history of your body, but by the life of Christ working in you. “God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as He wanted them to be.” 1 Corinthians 12:18 NIV
