Join SALCBC on November 4, 2026 to learn about the landmark Ahluwalia v. Ahluwalia decision and the new tort of intimate partner violence. The New Tort of Intimate Partner Violence: Ahluwalia v. Ahluwalia Join us for an informative legal presentation exploring the Supreme Court of Canada’s landmark decision in Ahluwalia v. Ahluwalia (2026 SCC 16), which recognized a new tort of intimate partner violence. Presented by Meena Dhillon, SALCBC Founding Board Member, this session will examine the legal significance of the decision and its recognition of the harm caused by patterns of coercive and controlling behaviour in intimate relationships, including psychological and financial abuse. Participants will learn about the implications of this development for family law practice, client's legal rights, and access to justice.
