A fascinating look at how memory works, why we forget, and why our brains rewrite the past. You remember that embarrassing thing you said five years ago, but can’t remember why you walked into a room. Why does that happen? Our memories can feel like recordings of our lives. But remembering isn’t always as straightforward as we think. What we remember, what we forget, and the mistakes we make along the way reveal just how interesting the human brain really is. Dr. Nicole Anderson is a Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and a Senior Scientist at the Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest. Her research focuses on cognition, memory, and the ways cognitive abilities work and change. On November 13th, she’s joining us at Laugh & Learn to explore how memory works, why it sometimes fails us, and whether we can really trust what we remember. Here’s how the night works: First → stand-up comedy to warm up the room Then → Nicole takes the stage for a fascinating live lecture followed by audience Q&A. What you’ll explore: * How memory works and why we sometimes forget things we thought we’d remember * Why our memories don’t always work the way we expect * How our brains reconstruct the past, and why what we remember may not be the whole story This is for you if: * You’ve ever walked into a room and completely forgotten why you went there * You wonder why certain memories stick while others disappear * You’re curious about psychology, the brain, and human behaviour * You want a night that’s genuinely funny and leaves you thinking differently about something you experience every day Details: 📍 Venue: Ace of Spades Lounge and Events, 536 Manning Avenue #Lower Level, Toronto, ON M6G 2V7 📅 Friday, November 13th 🕖 Doors 6:30 PM | Show 7 PM ⚠️ Small intimate venue.
