Some Like it Yacht! FREE with RSVP and arrival before 11pm, $15 at the door. HARBOUR NIGHTS (Live DJ Session) Featuring DJs JChameleon, Scully Funk & Gazza Yacht Rock, Rare Funk, Smooth Disco Selections Join the crew, as we set sail on a sea of yacht rock, smooth disco, rare funk and more. Come bump that nautical booty as we take Harbour Nights to the heart of The Junction. *Tropical & Nautical attire encouraged* Harbour Nights (Live) is a DJ collective promoting events and bringing the danceable yacht rock sound to venues across Toronto such as Tapestry, Dundas Video, 915 Dupont, Junction Undergorund and The Casbah (Hamilton). Each event includes currated visual projections and décor to enhance the tropical feel. DJ JChameleon (Yacht Rock Miami, Chameleon Project) A trained jazz guitarist, DJ, and music educator, Josh has been promoting events in Toronto since 2005 — and made history as the first to bring yacht rock DJ nights to the city in 2007. Every Friday at 10pm, he hosts Harbour Nights (Radio), a weekly live-to-air DJ broadcast reaching hundreds of listeners worldwide on www.yachtrockmiami.com (Miami, FL), www.radiopvs.com (Melbourne, AU), www.smoothsailingradio.com (Melbourne, AU), and the Yacht Rock Discord — which naturally led to the launch of Harbour Nights (Live). In 2020, Josh founded the Yacht Rock Toronto Facebook group, now home to over 1,100 members. Beyond his DJ work, he performs with his band Chameleon Project and teaches music history at the Metalworks and Harris Institutes. DJ Jay NuFunk — NuFunk Concerts Jay has built a reputation as one of Canada's most passionate music community builders. Since founding NuFunk Concerts in 2004, he has promoted, booked, and consulted on thousands of events across North America — producing and directing the Nu Jazz Festival (2008–2012) and currently serving as curator of Groovin' in the Park, a beloved free outdoor event at Woodbine Park celebrating Toronto's Deep House community. DJ ScullyFunk — Always Digging / iLive 365 Radio A lifelong music fanatic, Geoff has been behind the decks for over 30 years — and he's never stopped digging. He cut his teeth in hip-hop before house music pulled him deeper, cracking open a obsession with the raw soul, jazz, funk, and disco records producers had been flipping for samples. He didn't just appreciate them — he went hunting for the source. Becoming a father drew him back to the pop classics he grew up with and the forgotten gems that deserved a second life. For Geoff, it all connects — because it always does. His mantra says it best: "The more you love music, the more music you love." You may be asking yourself, what is Yacht Rock? Yacht rock is a genre of music that emerged in the 1970s and peaked in the early 1980s. It is characterized by its smooth, polished sound, reminiscent of the soft rock and pop music of that era. The term "yacht rock" was coined in the 2000s by music critics and enthusiasts to describe the style of music often associated with sailing, luxury, and a laid-back coastal lifestyle. Yacht rock songs typically feature lush arrangements, smooth melodies, and sophisticated production techniques. The lyrics often focus on themes of romance, leisure, and escapism. Artists commonly associated with yacht rock include Christopher Cross, Steely Dan, Toto, Hall & Oates, Michael McDonald, and Kenny Loggins, among others. Despite not being a widely recognized genre during its heyday, yacht rock has experienced a resurgence in popularity in recent years, with fans celebrating its smooth sound and nostalgic appeal. There are even dedicated yacht rock radio stations, playlists, and events like Harbour Nights that celebrate this unique musical style. Get on board!
