Paul Barton's Community Songs Album Recording Session

I'm working on an album of community songs and I need your help! Come sing some of my most popular songs in the studio. All voices welcome. People have been telling me for years to make an album of my community songs. I'm finally doing it! I've already started recording at home, but the songs just don't sound the same when it's just me singing. So I'm inviting our Toronto community to a recording session! As usual, all voices are welcome. Just because I'm recording an album, doesn't mean I have to be a perfectionist. I love the sound of a group of normal people singing together. All the "imperfections" combine to create something beautiful. No need to prepare anything. Just like all our song circles, I'll teach you all the songs on the spot. Details Saturday, October 31st, 1 to 4 pm. Please plan to arrive on time. The Root Down Studio 225 Geary Avenue Toronto The studio is a 15-minute walk north of Dufferin station, or 7-minute bus ride. Street parking is available on Geary ave, or on nearby streets Bristol and Bartlett Ave. This event is for people 15 years of age and older. Cost In an ideal world, I would be paying you all to sing on my album, and I would sell thousands of copies and earn enough to cover my costs and pay for my time and artistry. However, I have recorded many albums, and have never made any money from them. Sometimes I sell a few copies on Bandcamp, but never enough to pay myself for the hundred hours it takes to make an album. When Steph and I lead song circles like this, we would normally suggest a $45 contribution. This recording session will be almost exactly like our usual song circles, except there will be microphones in the centre of the circle. The Root Down is generously offering their space and assistance at a reduced cost. At mimimum, we would like to cover the cost of the space. So, this is a pay-what-you-want event. If you value the experience of singing together, and want to support me to make this album, feel free to make a donation at checkout, or bring cash to the event. If you feel like adding your voice to my album is enough of a gift, feel free to pay $0. If you want to add an extra gift, you can share the album with your friends once it's done!
