Full description from organizerShow less
An afternoon of documentary films, personal stories and conversation celebrating caring as love in action. Join us for two special gatherings on Sunday, November 15, 2026. 4:00–5:30 PM | Special Documentary Screening Hosted by Mike Lang Four Stories. Four Conversations. The Courage to Care for Others and Ourselves. Join Mike Lang and special guests for an interactive screening of four short documentary films exploring the human experience of caring for people we love. Through moving personal stories and live conversations with featured participants and an invited nursing expert, the films explore the courage to let go of control, remain present, find connection and sustain hope amid uncertainty. The screening concludes with a short guided mindfulness meditation led on film by Dr. Linda Carlson. 6:00-8:30 | Connecting for Caring An inspiring gathering of stories, creative expression and conversation exploring caring not only as something private or personal, but as something that shapes our communities and our shared lives. Inspired by the book Courage to Care: Ripples of Love in Action, featuring more than 160 stories, poems, photographs and creative expressions from Calgary, Alberta and across Canada, this gathering is part of a growing national conversation. At the heart of the gathering is a question: What would it mean to become a country that recognizes and strengthens our capacity to care for one another? Connecting for Caring has four simple intentions: to let people giving and receiving care know they are not alone; to honour caring with beauty; to weave our caring together; and to make support for caring a provincial and national priority. Come listen, reflect, meet others and imagine what becomes possible when the caring that already surrounds us is recognized, valued and supported. Because caring may be personal, but none of us does it alone. We are grateful to the Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence, a program of the Azrieli Foundation Canada, and to the partners and community members helping make Connecting for Caring possible. Presented by Courage to Care and hosted in partnership with the Calgary Public Library.
