River Valley Sound: Travis Matthews at Little Brick

Join us at Little Brick for an intimate River Valley Sound with Travis Matthews, where music and stories come together in a cozy setting. River Valley Sound is your chance to enjoy intimate performances by some of Edmonton's most beloved singer-songwriters, hosted in one of Edmonton's oldest homes-turned-café. Come sit by the fire, enjoy a wonderful beverage and food pairing while hearing music performed up close. The evening includes a question and answer period with the artist, where the audience has the chance to get to know the performer on a personal level. Little Brick welcomes Travis Matthews, an Alberta singer songwriter whose music is built around a pretty simple idea: put a smile on your face. Travis has brought his warm, high energy performances to the Edmonton and Canmore Folk Music Festivals and opened for artists at folk clubs across Alberta, including the Calgary Folk Club, Nickelodeon Folk Club, and New Moon Folk Club. Along the way, he has developed a reputation for shows that blur the line between performer and audience, pairing soulful sing alongs with an infectious sense that everyone in the room is part of what is happening. Music runs deep in the Matthews family. Travis performs alongside his father, Gord Matthews, whose own career has included playing with k.d. lang and the Reclines and Ian Tyson. Together, they bring serious musicianship to music that never takes itself too seriously. That spirit extends beyond the stage. A release show for Travis’s “Don’t Worry (Little Ducklings)” featured a 120 person conga line, crowd surfing, and enough joyful chaos to raise $3,000 for Ducks Unlimited. Come spend an evening at Little Brick with an Alberta artist who believes folk music can be thoughtful, generous, and a whole lot of fun.
