Dal Biodiversity Day 2026

No prior taxonomy or identification knowledge is needed, so everyone is welcome. We have a variety of taxonomic experts and naturalists that will take you on explorations in different natural areas on campus to look for living things of varying taxa including insects, trees, birds, pollinators, garden plants, mushrooms, and more! Pre-register for a time slot by buying the tickets (they are free) and you will be paired with a group leader who will point out and talk about the various insects, animals, plants, and fungi on the Dalhousie campus, and help to upload the sightings on the iNaturalist site. On the Dal Biodiversity day - arrive 5-10 minutes before your session, download iNaturalist on your phone, wear comfortable shoes and clothes - be prepared for the weather, and have a great time!
