His career spans leading global initiatives at the Mozilla Foundation and the Internet Society, teaching ethical hacking to Canadian government agencies, and advising organizations on technology policy, open-source software, and digital security. Today, Jairus works with organizations navigating complex technology challenges, hunts for vulnerabilities in source code, and builds video game content. Highest Standards: Canada's Age Verification Bill, Trusted Vendors, and 153 Million Licences For Sale Bill C-34 would bar Canadians under 16 from having social media accounts, meaning platforms would have to check everyone's age. The minister in charge told the House the government expects those checks to meet "the highest standards of security and privacy protection." The bill doesn't say what those are. Meanwhile, 153 million US and Canadian driver's licences have turned up for sale on the dark web. This presentation explores the cybersecurity implications of Canada's age verification legislation, what happens when sensitive personal information becomes a valuable target, and how we got here in the first place. 🔍 What's This All About?
