Inside Design: A Sculptural Wet-Felting Surprise!

Halifax Design Week invites you to Inside Design: a sculptural wet-felting project where we release control over outcome & welcome change! Wool fibre, a little soapy water and some friction turn into something unexpectedand delightful! Register for Inside Design with Nova Scotia textile artist Elise Campbell of Full of Wool Fibre Art for hands-on exploration of wet felting and the surprising sculptural possibilities of wool. Using a simple circular resist, you'll discover how loose fibres can be transformed into a small, hollow, three-dimensional vessel through the process of wet felting. Explore fibre placement, colour combinations, shrinkage, shaping, and fabric manipulation as we work through the process of creating unique sculptural forms. No previous experience is necessary. This is an opportunity to experiment, discover fabric-making, and enjoy the satisfaction of creating something with your hands. Participants will be working with soap and water at shared tables What you'll make: A small sculptural felt vessel, approximately 4 inches in size. What you'll learn: The fundamentals of working over a resist, transforming wool fibre into felt, and shaping a three-dimensional object. All materials and tools are provided. ~Participants are asked to bring a hand towel, if possible~ (Elise will have towels on hand as well).
