Full description from organizer

Featuring The Smith Sisters, Reeny, Haliey, and Micah Smith, from North Preston, Nova Scotia’s celebrated musical family. Program Information Celebrate the joy of music, family, and community with The Smith Sisters, Reeny, Haliey, and Micah Smith, in a special December performance as part of our free Sensory-Accessible Concerts series. Hailing from North Preston, Nova Scotia, the sisters come from a family with deep roots in gospel, soul, and R&B, bringing together their shared musical heritage, expressive voices, and a lifelong connection to music. Their program will feature gospel and R&B favourites, original songs by Reeny, and a touch of Christmas music, with Reeny on piano. An accomplished singer, songwriter, pianist, and producer, Reeny Smith has earned numerous honours, including multiple Music Nova Scotia and African Nova Scotian Music Awards. Her sister Haliey Smith is a vocalist and songwriter whose performances span musical theatre, jazz festivals, and collaborations with celebrated Canadian and international artists. Micah Smith is a musician and arts advocate whose work as the founder of Crescendo Fest has helped create new opportunities for African Nova Scotian and Black artists, celebrating the musical talent and cultural traditions of their communities. Together, they offer an afternoon of soulful music, warm harmonies, and personal connection, sharing songs shaped by their family’s musical traditions and experiences. Designed with accessibility and comfort in mind, this concert invites audience members to settle in, listen at their own pace, move as needed, and enjoy live music in a relaxed, welcoming, and supportive environment. Hosted by pianist Jennifer King.
