About this event

Step back into the past and experience the history of the Imperial Cotton Factory told through theatre, circus, music and food! The shows are based on facts found in The Fabricator, a newsletter published by the employees of The Imperial Cotton Factory Ltd. beginning in 1920.

Come an hour early for the outdoor pre-show held in the back courtyard and featuring circus, food, fortune tellers, drinks, vendors, bluegrass band and more! 'One Small Drop' is a site-specific theatrical performance originally created by Kelly Wolf and Paula Grove for the inaugural Hamilton Frostbites Festival at the Cotton Factory in 2016. Inspired by Hamilton's labour and textile history, the 15-minute piece weaves together the personal accounts and private thoughts of women from the Imperial Cotton Company across different eras. With Kelly Wolf, Paula Grove and Abbey Hanson 'An Experience As A Hobo' is an excerpt taken verbatim from the 1926 Cotton Factory Fabricator Newsletter and told through shadow puppet animation and aerial circus. Conceived and performed by Tricia Cook, Vanessa Gemme and Lori LeMare. Hamilton Aerial Group (HAG) is a circus arts collective located in Hamilton Ontario. 'Liquid Lead Dancing' is a gender neutral system of partner dancing created by Trevor Copp and Jeff Fox. Tottering Biped Theatre (TBT) was founded in 2009 as a social justice inspired theatre company. We devise contemporary pieces through a workshop process spanning several years to create highly physical performances. Tor Lukasik-Foss is a Hamilton based artist whose creative practice has integrated music, performance, storytelling and visual art. He has released music under the pseudonym tiny bill cody since the mid- 1990s, and has performed and exhibited across Canada and abroad. Tor's current projects include a one-person theatrical show called ‘The Yodelling Ranger’ which premiered at the Ottawa and Hamilton Fringe Festivals this summer, an exhibition at ArtSpin in Toronto with the contemporary art collective TH&B this fall, and the continuation of Tuesday Choir, a pub-style choir centred on the social benefits of communal singing, at the Cat And Fiddle in Hamilton, resuming September 15th. Tor is third generation Hamiltonian who has lived in the Central neighbourhood for nearly three decades.
