No pottery experience is necessary! This beginner-friendly class is designed to be relaxed, social, and fun. What to Expect During your pottery experience, you’ll each have the opportunity to work on a pottery wheel and learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing. Your instructor will demonstrate the basic steps, including preparing the clay, centering it on the wheel, opening the clay, and shaping it into a simple form. You’ll then get hands-on time to try the techniques yourself and see what you can create! Don’t worry about making the “perfect” piece. Pottery is all about experimenting, learning, laughing, and enjoying the process. Wobbly bowls and unexpected shapes are part of the fun—especially when you’re experiencing it together. What to Wear Pottery can get messy, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little clay on. Long nails can make working on the pottery wheel more challenging, but you’re still welcome to participate.
