The story brings us to 1895, where we follow the life of Adèle, their common ancestor, who is on her own journey from her hometown in Normandy to Paris in search of her mother. Alternating between 19th and 21st Century Paris, the film features painting-like production design and stellar performances from a star-studded cast (Cécile de France, Suzanne Lindon, Vassili Schneider, Olivier Gourmet), mixing humour and drama – summing up in a beautifully directed, feel-good movie where we also encounter Victor Hugo, Claude Monet, and Sarah Bernhardt.
