QUBIC Workshop: IP Fundamentals and Commercialization Strategies

Join us in person at Botterell Hall rm B150 on September 30, 2026 at 3:30 PM (Eastern Time) for a workshop open to everyone in the Queen’s University community. This session is co-hosted by QUBIC and Queen’s Partnerships & Innovation Office. We’ll cover the basics of intellectual property (IP), including when and why different types of protection make sense. You’ll get a clear picture of the patent process, IP strategy, and how the university’s tech-transfer office and Canadian IP-support organizations can help. Plus, we’ll explore the research commercialization process and the pros and cons of licensing, partnerships, selling, or launching a new venture based on your innovation.
