Improv Games Performance Ensemble | Workshop Series

9 week improv workshop series, culminating in a student performance showcase! Pinch presents: The Improv Games Performance Ensemble series with director Ben Gorodetsky! The first eight weeks are a series of improv workshops exploring the hilarious and fast paced world of short form improv games. We'll explore classics from Whose Line (Party Quirks, Questions Only, Moving People, etc), favourites from TheatreSports (4-Square, Word at a Time, Sound Effects, etc), and even make up our own improv games! Develop the essential short form skills of story, commitment, risk, and fast-paced improv mischief through a total of 20 hours of hands-on learning. The series culminates on the ninth week with a student showcase to show off all those fresh improv games in front of a real live audience! --- Prerequisites: In order to perform with the Improv Games Performance Ensemble you need to have taken classes with Pinch before. Reduced pricing is always available. --- About the instructor: Ben Gorodetsky is an improviser, director, and educator based in Kitchener, Ontario. They are curator and host of Pinch Cabaret, KW's BEST LOCAL EVENT, as voted by the readers of the Waterloo Chronicle. Ben has performed, taught, and directed improvisation at The Magnet Theatre (NYC), Out of Bounds Comedy (Austin), UCB (LA), Highwire Comedy (Atlanta), English Lovers (Vienna), IGLU (Ljubljana), FERIIR (Reunion Island), Bad Dog (Toronto), and Blind Tiger (Vancouver). His performance work has been presented by The Art Gallery of Ontario, CAFKA, Lumen Fest, Movement Research at Judson Church, The Tank NYC, Mile Zero Dance, Brian Webb Dance Company, Expanse Festival of Movement Arts, Rubaboo Festival, Guelph Dance Festival, SpringWorks, and the Gas Station Arts Centre. Ben is the former Associate Artistic Director of Rapid Fire Theatre a nominee for a Canadian Comedy Award.
