Rubik's Cube Club (FREE)

Ever wanted to solve a Rubik’s Cube but didn’t know where to start? Join us for a FREE 5-session Rubik’s Cube series. Come enjoy our FREE five-session series to learn the classic 3×3 cube together, one step at a time. No experience needed. All ages are welcome! Saturday, October 10, 2-3PM The First Layer — Daisy, White Cross and “Dogs” (white corners). Saturday, October 24, 2-3PM The Second Layer — the ABCs of inserting edges. Saturday, November 7, 2-3PM The Yellow Side — OLL (Orienting the Last Layer): Yellow Plus and Yellow Side. Sunday, November 22, 2-3PM Solve the Full Cube — PLL (Permuting the Last Layer): corners and edges, plus finger tricks. Saturday, December 5, 2-3PM Friendly Rubik’s Cube Tournament — 5 timed solves and small prizes for the top three. What to bring You’ll want a 3×3 Rubik’s Cube of your own so you can practise between sessions. Bring one from home at no cost, or purchase one from us for $10, either as an add-on when you register on Eventbrite or with cash at the session. All teaching sessions and learning materials are completely free. How the series works The lessons build on one another, so we encourage participants to follow the series in order. Joining later is absolutely okay: we’ll share printed cheat sheets and video links from completed lessons so you can catch up at home before your session. Each lesson’s materials are shared only after that session has finished. About the Teacher Danny is a Grade 6 student and Rubik’s Cube enthusiast who first learned to solve a cube at age 9. After rediscovering cubing this summer with a smart cube, he quickly went from nearly 2-minute solves to a 30-second average, with a personal best of 18 seconds. He now enjoys learning faster algorithms, finger tricks, and methods like CFOP. What Danny enjoys most, though, is cubing with other people — trading tricks, inventing mnemonics, and helping friends crack patterns that once seemed impossible. He has already taught eleven kids to solve their first cube and hopes the club will grow into a community of fellow cubing enthusiasts.
