Join us for the monthly Mississauga/Oakville Bitcoin meetup, hosted by Adam. BITCOIN LEARNING LAB: How to make your own bitcoin node using an old laptop and a flash drive. Adam will be doing an interactive demonstration hands-on lab on how you can turn an old laptop that you have laying around your house into a bitcoin node and use it in a sovereign way. Adam will bring: 6 Usable Laptops 6 Flash Drives 1 Fully Synced Node All 6 of the laptops will be a Windows installation with the necessary software to learn how to put the StartOS installation on a USB drive. You will turn that computer into a bitcoin node. What we will accomplish: Install the software required to make the USB Installation media. Flash a USB drive with StartOS 0.4.0's installation media. Use the USB drive to install StartOS onto the laptop. Connect the laptop to the internet (via Wifi on my mobile hotspot). Install the bitcoin node software and other tools to learn how to install and configure the applications on StartOS. (We will not sync the node). We will then use the 1 fully synchronised node to showcase how to configure your phone's wallet to your bitcoin node to preserve privacy (using Tor).
