Help rejuvenate the natural habitat of the RNUP by planting over 2000 trees and shrubs on Sunday Oct. 18th. 2026 - AFTERNOON Session ROUGE NATIONAL URBAN PARK (RNUP) PLANTING DAY AFTERNOON SESSION 1 P.M. TO 4 P.M. Activities include: • Planting stock (trees, shrubs, wildflowers, etc.) including digging of hole, planting the trees and completing the process by adding mulch and tree guards as instructed • Implementing measures to keep planting stock viable until planting VOLUNTEERS ARE ASKED TO ARRIVE BY 1 P.M. The AFTERNOON planting session will end at 4 P.M. HOW TO GET HERE 1. PUBLIC TRANSIT – There are 2 TTC buses that stop at the intersection right in front of the planting site. From Scarborough Centre Station, Take either TTC bus 131 (Nugget to Old Finch/Morningview via Scarborough Centre Stn) or 39B (Finch East to Old Finch and Morningview) and get off at the bus stop on Old Finch Ave (ID:13324) 2.DRIVING - Volunteers are asked to CAREFULLY PARK along residential side streets to the WEST of Valley Centre Dr. Please ensure to follow any local parking signage. Map location of site (please copy and paste into browser) https://maps.app.goo.gl/tm5Z9xbMaa5FE8so7 CHECK-IN with 10,000 Trees Registration Volunteers are to CHECK-IN at the Registration Area, having their QR Code/ticket open for scanning. HEALTH AND SAFETY GENERAL INFORMATION • All participants must review (in Eventbrite) and agree to,10,000 Trees' "Liability Release and Assumption of Risk Agreement" to register and participate. • All participants are advised to wear appropriate clothing for weather conditions. We recommend long pants, sturdy footwear, garden/planting gloves. • Additionally its advised that participants bring sunscreen, hat, bug repellent and a reusable filled water bottle. • ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE ASKED TO BRING THEIR OWN FULL-SIZE SHOVEL, and 5 -gallon BUCKET. • PORTABLE WASHROOMS will be available at the planting site. PARKS CANADA INFORMATION FOR VOLUNTEERS • All participants must read/view the Parks Canada Volunteer Activity Description Form and accept the terms. The form is to be reviewed in Eventbrite during the registration process. • By accepting the terms, participants will be considered Parks Canada volunteers for the duration of the event and will be covered by Parks Canada insurance policy. Please note that the insurance policy does not cover volunteers 90 years of age or over. Photography Photographers from 10,000 Trees and Parks Canada will be on site during the event to capture the activities of day, and photos may be posted on 10,000 Trees and Parks Canada website and/or social media. All participants have the option of reviewing and accepting Parks Canada's "Release of Publicity and Privacy Rights." This can be completed during Eventbrite Registration. • If a participant DOES NOT want their image/photo taken they should advise the Parks Canada staff at Registration on the day of the event. REGISTRATION FOR TICKETS IN EVENTBRITE SELECT ONLY ONE TYPE OF TICKET for the session - Each Adult must register for their own ticket in their own name. ** **GROUPS - EACH ADULT PERSON NEEDS TO REGISTER FOR THEIR OWN TICKET (there is NO Group Registration feature). • Each ADULT MUST register and must have a ticket in their name. • FAMILIES or Groups WITH MINOR CHILDREN - If a family (or adult guardian) is bringing minor children, ( under 18 years of age)**** ONLY ONE ADULT **** in the family needs to add the minor(s) to their ticket during registration. We strongly recommend no more than 7 minors be added to one adult ticket. The other ADULT (s) needs to sign up for an Adult Planter ticket in their own name without minors PLANTING COACH REQUIREMENTS: • Must have previous Planting Coach training and EXPERIENCE with 10,000 trees. New Planting Coaches must have completed Planting Coach Training on Sat. Oct. 17, 2026. CANCELLING A REGISTRATION If you are unable to attend the event for any reason, please CANCEL your registration in EVENTBRITE following the instructions provided in the e-mail confirming your registration and ticket.
