What Rises explores transformation after loss, finding light, connection and new possibility in the unexpected life that emerges. WHAT RISES What Rises begins where Songs of Reflection & Resilience leaves off. If the first program asks how we live with what has been lost or changed, this one wonders what might grow afterward. Not recovery as a return to what was, but transformation: the unexpected life that can emerge after disruption, disappointment or grief. The songs draw largely on contemporary Canadian voices and move through darkness, stillness, desire, connection and renewed possibility. Claire Harris returns at the piano, joined by guitarist Steven Peacock. There is light here, but not because the darkness has been tidied away. Some things that have been broken stay broken. Sometimes what rises is something new.
