Saskatchewan Homegrown

Saskatchewan Homegrown presents singer-songwriters to a listening audience and shows are recorded live for later broadcast on CFCR radio. Feature performers Jen Lane and Jack Walton will perform for our first double-bill. Jen Lane is back with a guitar in hand, a notebook full of songs, and a perspective that can only be forged by time. After stepping away from the stage for nine years to focus on her most demanding and rewarding role yet—raising her family as a full-time mother—the Western Canadian Music Award-nominated singer-songwriter, has returned to her musical roots. For nearly a decade, Jen traded late-night festival sets for early-morning wake-up calls, grounding herself in the beautiful, chaotic rhythm of motherhood. Jack Walton is a singer-songwriter, writer and film producer whose material is steeped with his experience as a self-described Prairie-Maritimer. His original songs and compositions cover a wide range of genres including folk, roots, blues and a contagious jazzy swing. From a beach on the Northumberland Strait to a seawall on Vancouver Island; a winter storm in a small prairie town or paddling a blue northern lake, Jack’s musical tales are a reflection of the vast and diverse Canadian landscape, both real and imagined.
