Tree Canada's National Tree Day Planting Event in Saskatoon

Tree Canada and the City of Saskatoon are excited to plant trees in honour of National Tree Day. Come celebrate with us! Tree Canada, in collaboration with the City of Saskatoon, is excited to celebrate National Tree Day (NTD), presented by BMO. National Tree Day connects local action to national impact—when Canadians participate across the country, we grow a movement that reflects who we are and the future we want to build. Join us in the greenspace near the University of Saskatoon and the intersection of 14 St. E. and Preston Ave N. to plant 300 trees and shrubs. Tree Canada experts and experienced volunteers will be on hand to support you and answer your questions. We’ll provide gloves and shovels—all you need to bring is your enthusiasm! How you'll be making an impact This roadway is lined with trees along the residential side, with only a few trees currently growing within the adjacent park. Additional trees are needed to strengthen the area's urban canopy and ecological health. By planting fruit trees and native shrubs, this project will enhance biodiversity, provide food and habitat for wildlife and pollinators, and create opportunities for community members to enjoy and benefit from edible landscaping. Volunteers will help dig planting holes, plant trees and shrubs, and apply mulch to help retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, and support healthy plant establishment. Free Food: Volunteers can grab a snack, courtesy of Vachon. What to wear and bring: Volunteers should wear and bring the following: • Water bottle • Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots • Long pants • Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing • Sunscreen • Bug spray • Hat • Hand sanitizer This rain or shine event will take place unless the forecast calls for thunderstorms or very heavy rainfall. We look forward to planting trees with you! Meeting Point: Volunteers will meet here. Parking: Volunteers can park on Bate Crescent, 1.5 blocks West of the meeting point, or on the south side of 14th Street. Terrain: Easy Amenities: Washrooms are available. Booking Information: This is a community event. Businesses and corporations must contact us to reserve tickets for their teams.
