Full description from organizer

Workshop Overview 2:30-4:30 pm How can we support students with accommodations while also creating sustainable, effective learning environments for everyone? In this session, we’ll explore common accommodation scenarios and consider how our thinking, planning, and teaching practices can help accommodations feel less like an added burden and more a part of supporting students to thrive. Building on ideas from our recent anti-ableism sessions, we’ll have an opportunity to share experiences, work through scenarios, ask questions, and consider practical approaches we can bring into our own classes. We’ve added lots of content from the sessions to the Blackboard organization. We encourage you to check it out and engage with some of the interactive polling questions. You don’t need to have attended the anti-ableism sessions to participate. Whether you’re bringing a question, a classroom experience, or simply curious about the topic, come ready to think together about how we can bring out the best in our students while maintaining effective and sustainable teaching practices. What to Expect: • Facilitated by Cathy Mills & Nathan Hall • Interactive format with self-reflective activities, small and large group discussions • Use of Mentimeter, Padlet, and other digital tools accessible via smartphone or computer • Opportunities to engage using sticky notes, pens, paper, and whiteboards • Themes and discussions will be captured to help build our resources on Blackboard Find out more and contribute to the development of the session: We’ll be posting a schedule, agenda, slides, and dialogue prompts on the Blackboard CoP site in the lead-up to the session. Feel free to visit that space and add your comments or ideas!
