Luminarium, by Cause and Effect Circus

Presented by The Arts On Bowen. Luminarium is a visually striking, wordless circus theatre experience. Compelling theatre suitable for all ages! Winner of the “Best of the Fest” award at the Vancouver Fringe Festival. Luminarium is a visually captivating, wordless circus theatre production that fuses juggling, physical comedy, and imaginative stagecraft into a playful and thought-provoking journey. Set in a solarpunk-inspired future where the planet has been pushed to its limits, the story follows two workers tasked with restoring a long-abandoned facility. Armed with tools, protocols, and a clear objective, they begin their work with precision—but things quickly start to unravel. In the cracks of their carefully structured task, something unexpected emerges: a light. What begins as distraction evolves into curiosity, experimentation, and a rediscovery of imagination. As the workers lean into this new way of engaging with their environment, they stumble upon an extraordinary possibility—a new form of energy that challenges everything they thought they knew. Told entirely without words, the story unfolds through movement, imagery, and sound—inviting audiences of all ages and backgrounds to connect through a shared visual language. Blending humour with moments of wonder, Luminarium offers more than spectacle—it’s a gentle reflection on our relationship to the environment and each other. In a world often driven by efficiency and control, the show suggests that the solutions we seek may lie in something more human: imagination, care, and the courage to play. Enter a world where curiosity becomes power, and a small spark of discovery has the potential to change everything.
