Impermanence: Soul Motion

The founder of Soul Motion Contemplative Dance, Vincent Martinez Grieco, is coming to town for 3 days of deeply playful community practice. Fri & Sat 10-4, Sun 10-12:30 (Pacific Daylight Time, BC) We are truly fortunate to welcome Vincent Martinez Grieco to Victoria for the very first time, the founder of Soul Motion Contemplative Dance, a body of work taught by certified practitioners across the USA, Europe, South America, Australia, and here in Victoria, BC. Join Vincent in a dip into impermanence. A Next Steps workshop in Victoria, BC Impermanence calls to an unwavering motion and repositioning of form as it ebbs and flows consistently into an unknown, a barely identifiable mystery of the moment being revealed again and again. rather than think about something not lasting we view the forms as ever present restating and reintroduction in myriad ways. On the dancing floor it calls for courage to wade in the deep waters of uncertainty. what arises is not predetermined. the dancing person becomes adept at adjusting the elements of distance, flow, energetic connection, deep listening, micro-movements, and grounding statements of call and response in order to respond to the changing calls. This viewing of impermanence will add surprise and suspense to the dancing bodies and a novel notion of what is being danced. Co-produced by Vincent Martinez Grieco’s Soul Motion Next Steps and Body Songs.Dance, with Katriona Ilsedóttir Curry as local host.
