Full description from organizer

Join us for a conversation about sustainable organizing for sustainable seas! A lot is coming at us right now. From multiple elections amid growing economic pressures, to legislation like Bill C-5 and C-39 raising questions about democratic accountability and protecting nature, all while ecological crises continue to unfold. It's a lot. There's no shortage of reasons to organize. But with so many overlapping challenges demanding our attention, how do we sustain the energy needed to create lasting change? Here in the Salish Sea, we know how to mobilize. We've seen communities come together, build powerful movements, and win meaningful change before. And we'll do it again. But transformational change takes sustained pressure, often over years or decades. So how do we keep showing up for the long haul? This is the first gathering in our new Climate Justice Dialogue series, which will bring people together for a series of conversations, creative activities, and shared experiences to explore how we can navigate uncertainty, strengthen community connections, and create a more just and resilient future. For the first event, we're zooming out to ask: What does sustainable organizing actually look like? Together, we'll explore two big questions: • How do we sustain our campaigns? How can we organize our day-to-day work, share our energy and resources, and use the right levers of change to make a lasting impact? • How do we sustain ourselves over a lifetime of advocacy? How can we make space for changing capacities, shifting priorities, rest, and renewal while staying connected to the causes and communities we care about? This will be an open-ended, facilitated workshop for sharing experiences, learning across generations, and imagining different ways to keep our movements going. You don't need to have the answers. Just bring your experiences, questions, and curiosity!
