Together to End Gender-Based Violence

Join us to take a stand against gender-based violence on the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women Join WEAVE on December 6, 2026, for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. Together, we’ll walk in solidarity to raise awareness and take a stand against gender-based violence. Beginning at Centennial Square we’ll make our way to the Legislative Lawn to honour those impacted by gender-based violence, amplify community voices, and inspire hope for meaningful change. Register to attend and receive one of 200 flameless remembrance candles! Candles will be distributed on a first-come, first-registered basis, so be sure to register early to reserve yours. Please note that candles can be picked up from 3:30- 4:15 p.m. on December 6 at the check in table at Centennial Square. Any unclaimed candles after 4:15 p.m. will be made available to others. WEAVE: The Women's Empowerment Alliance for Violence Elimination brings community organization under a singular mission. By unifying frontline insights across the CRD and Cowichan Valley, we champion systemic policy change, reduce regional service gaps, and elevate community awareness to break cycles of gender-based violence permanently. Our members are: Victoria Women's Transition House, The Cridge Centre for the Family, Elizabeth Fry Society, Bridges for Women, Victoria Sexual Assault Centre, Cowichan Women Against Violence, Greater Victoria Women's Shelter Society, Inter-Cultural Association, and Victoria Native Friendship Centre.
