Non-Fiction pop-up: Caliban and the Witch by Silvia Federici

Join us to discuss Silvia Federici’s Caliban and the Witch, its history, ideas, and relevance to the present. The book examines the violent transformation from feudalism to capitalism. Federici shows how this new order was built by turning women's bodies into a resource to be controlled, burning "witches" and making the unpaid labour of care and reproduction invisible. At the same time, the colonisation of the Americas crushed Indigenous societies and forced them into a new class structure, but women were at the heart of the resistance and rebellions that followed.
