Painters on Paper 1

“You already know paper. You’ve folded it, crumpled it, written a number on it and lost it in a coat pocket. You’ve doodled on it while your mind went blank and the hand kept moving. It never asked to be precious, and that’s why it works.” Painters on Paper 1 at GlogauAIR Project Space, curated by Oates, Thomas Delaroziere & Theo Metais, will investigate the different relationships that 10 international Berlin-based painters have to paper and what part it plays in their practice. Preparatory drawings, experimentation, intended stand- alone works and everything in between. Opening: 12th November, 6 – 9pm Exhibition: 13-15th November, open daily 1 – 6pm Curator’s Tour: Sunday 15th November, 1pm GlogauAIR Glogauer Str. 16 10999 Berlin Featuring: Elke Foltz @elkeandfoltz Thomias Radin @thomias.r George Oates @georgeoatesart Thomas Delaroziere @thomas_delaroziere Runa Ikeda @runaikedart Jade Cassidy @jadecassidy_ Deividas Šidlauskas @deividas_sidlauskas Theo Metais @guardian_alfred Shuaitong Zong @shuiuiuii Benro Adegbenro @benroadegbenro “We call it minor, a rehearsal for the real work. That's a story, and a local one. In plenty of places paper was always the main stage. The painters here know better. Each keeps paper close, and each dances with it differently: some quick, some slow, some you can't take in all at once.” From the exhibition text by Thomas Delaroziere
