PLAY IT BY EAR – Improv Workshop with Stacey Smith – Düsseldorf

Full-day improv workshop with Stacey Smith: music sets mood, tempo and genre, and scenes grow from there. An improv workshop in Düsseldorf about scenework: the music plays, and you play. A piece of music sets mood, tempo and genre before a single word is spoken – and from that come characters, relationships and choices you would not have found without the impulse. Stacey Smith shows you how to use music as a source of inspiration: listen closely, react from instinct and build scenes and emotional worlds together. The day moves from your own character work through shared scenes to playing as a whole ensemble. Stacey Smith is a performer, director and teacher. She was artistic director and director of education at Boom Chicago in Amsterdam and has toured internationally with The Second City. ✓ Develop characters and emotions from a musical impulse ✓ Play scenes with a clear mood, tempo and timing ✓ Build and hold a shared atmosphere as an ensemble ✓ Trust your instincts and find new paths in scenes Time: 11:00–17:00 incl. 1-hour lunch break Level: improvisers with experience Language: simple English (German translation possible) Venue: SPONTAN THEATER Studio, Volmerswerther Str. 21, 40221 Düsseldorf-Unterbilk Teacher: Stacey Smith On Friday, 20 November, Stacey also teaches the evening workshop SCENEWORK DREAMWORK.
