// Meet the Norwegian author Nikolai Torgersen behind the novel with the Danish title Gader jeg har levet at BookTalks on 9 November. Gader jeg har levet is set in Oslo during the 2000s, where Nikolai grows up in poverty with his parents and three siblings in his childhood home, where the family is united more by adversity than by fortune. Here, they steal electricity from the neighbor, wash themselves in a bucket, and share the drugs. When the family is forced to sell their home, Nikolai is driven onto the streets, where he is constantly vulnerable and searching for a place to sleep. Gader jeg har levet is a gritty yet beautiful story about growing up in poverty and homelessness in the world’s wealthiest country. Gader jeg har levet is Nikolai Torgersen’s literary debut, which he will tell much more about in a talk about the book with author Hans Peter Madsen. The event will be in English. Following the talk, you’ll be able to buy the book and get it signed by the author. Afterwards, we invite you to join us for a communal meal, where you can stay on and continue the conversation in good company!
