Full description from organizer

*English below* Kunsthal Aarhus x Aarhus Film and Series Festival: ’Joan of Arc’ 5. november kl. 18.00-19.00 Kom i Kunsthal Aarhus’ lille biograf og se den poetiske, minimalistiske og meget morsomme film ’Joan of Arc’ (Jóhanna af Örk), som vi præsenterer i samarbejde med Aarhus Series & Film Festival. Filmen varer ca. 1 time. ENGLISH Kunsthal Aarhus x Aarhus Film and Series Festival: ‘Joan of Arc’ November 5, 6.00 - 7.00 pm Join us at Kunsthal Aarhus’s intimate cinema for a screening of the poetic, minimalist, and very funny film ‘Joan of Arc’ (Jóhanna af Örk), presented in collaboration with Aarhus Series & Film Festival. The film is written and directed by the award-winning Icelandic director Hlynur Pálmason. Pálmason (b. 1984). He graduated from the National Film School of Denmark in 2013 and made his debut with ‘Winter Brothers’ in 2017. His latest film, ‘The Love That Remains’, was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2025. The screening is free. Seating is limited. Runtime is 1 hour. The film will also be shown on a loop in the cinema on November 7, from 11 am - 6 pm. About the film On the edge of the world, in the beautiful countryside on the east coast of Iceland, two twin boys have started digging a huge hole. When the hole is deep enough, they stick a long piece of timber into it and fill it up again. Now the timber stands like a stump in the middle of it all. Their big sister joins them and together they build a knight figure, which they tie to the stump. Perfect. Now they have a target to shoot arrows at, even though their father has told them not to shoot bows and arrows when he is not at home. But they don’t care, because he is never home anyway, and now the knight, whom their big sister has named Joan of Arc – because women can be knights too – is to be pierced by arrows. The camera remains motionless throughout Joan of Arc, and the fact that it never gets boring is thanks to the three children in front of the camera and, of course, their father: Icelandic filmmaker Hlynur Pálmason. A beautiful and very funny portrait of the passage of time, children’s games and the ever-changing Icelandic climate.
