Lunch Talk about Data, Behaviour and the Economics of Long-Term Security. Private health insurance, pension savings and increasing life expectancy are reshaping the relationship between individuals, markets and the welfare state. Yet some of the most important questions remain unanswered: Do private health insurance schemes create better outcomes? How should pension systems account for differences in life expectancy? And where does value accrue when more private capital flows into health and welfare services? Join Professor Torben Heien Nielsen and Associate Professor Frederik Plesner Lyngse from the University of Copenhagen for a research-driven discussion on the economics behind health, insurance and pensions. Drawing on large-scale Danish register data, economic theory and applied statistics, they will present concrete examples of how researchers study individual behaviour, savings decisions, health outcomes and inequality across populations. The session is designed for discussion rather than one-way presentations. Participants will gain insight into the methods and data behind the research while exploring how academia and industry can work together to address some of the long-term challenges facing pension providers, insurers, policymakers and financial institutions.
