Dancing and dating, dating and dancing. It happens — and it's challenging.Navigating desire, intimacy, and connection: those aren't things you actually want to deal with when you're in a dance class trying to learn the steps. So what happens when we consciously open the container to meet with the explicit intention of connecting in a dating context? What shifts when this is the stated purpose, and we enter it willingly and consciously? Most dating events focus on conversation: too many people in too little space, speaking too loudly. And most dance events are explicitly non-romantic, non-flirty spaces or, at worst, feel like "meat markets."This event is for people who want to feel the chemistry through the body. Those for whom words are secondary, at least to start with.How does it feel to move together with this person? Is there flow, connection, curiosity, safety? How do you bridge the awkward moments together? Safety, boundaries, consent What does it mean to be safe? How can you contribute to a field and sense of safety around you? A few subtle things make all the difference; intention and attunement are at the core of it. Opening a door for someone to step through is different from shoving them through it. Asking a question and then listening for the answer with curiosity and care. And questions can be asked with words or with the body: I hold out my hand for you to take, instead of taking your hand. I signal which direction we'll move, and let you react and follow.How the evening moves. You don't need to know how to dance. This isn’t about getting the steps right. Mette has decades of experience in helping people find the joy in dancing. Together, we start slow and grounded and build from there: gentle warm-ups, simple leading-and-following, sometimes eyes closed, often without words. Everyone gets to lead and be led. If something feels awkward, that's information, not failure, and you can pause or step out at any point. Pyt has hosted tons of dating events with a strong focus on embodiment, personal boundaries, consent, and attunement. Merengue is a cultural social dance and national dance and music from the Dominican Republic. The dance in itself has simple steps - we often say, "If you can walk, you can Merengue". The music is engaging with it's caribbean vibes, and the dance is culturally danced with family and friends.
