OORLEEF DANCE PROJECT

THE BATTLE IS IN THE MIND Oorleef Dance Project Live in Copenhagen For the first time ever, Oorleef Dance Project brings their acclaimed production "The Battle Is In The Mind" to Copenhagen a raw, physical, and deeply moving exploration of what it means to survive your own mind. Born in Cape Town, Oorleef ("survive" in Afrikaans) is a dance company that doesn't perform about mental health they perform through it. Every movement in this show comes from lived experience: anxiety that won't switch off, the weight of depression, the quiet war of self-doubt, and the hard-won moments of breaking through to the other side. This is contemporary dance stripped of pretense. Bodies in conflict with themselves. Silence that says more than words. Moments of collapse followed by moments of flight. It's uncomfortable, it's beautiful, and it's real because these dancers aren't performing a concept, they're telling their own stories. For audiences in Copenhagen, this is a rare chance to witness South African contemporary dance at its most honest, brought here through a partnership between MAKE SPACE and Oorleef Dance Project as part of the company's first ever international tour. Whether you've battled your own mind, love someone who has, or simply believe in the power of art to say what words can't — this show will stay with you. Come witness the battle. Come witness the survival. Saturday, 27th September 19:30 – 21:00 Rört Studios, Thoravej 35, 2400 Copenhagen
