PLAY: “American Particulate” Winner of IAHM’s One Act Play Competition

We’re excited to announce that production of the museum’swinner of our first-ever one-act play competition is in full swing. We hope you can join us on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. at the museum for the premiere of “American Particulate” by Stanely Werse, Esq. The play is set during the Great Depression, and the main character is an Irish widow. As was common in the time, a man seeking a meal arrives at her door. Another character also provides insight into the man’s past. Werse describes the play as one that explores the limits of human kindness. The cast members and co-directors are local actors Ellen Cribbs, John Decker and Russell Roberts. Also on this special evening, a runner-up submission to IAHM’s 2026 One-act Play Competition will be a wonderful reading involving Michael Flanagan of the famous Flanagan Brothers band (after whom IAHM’s theater is named) by Kathy Loerzel, Michael Flanagan’s daughter and Albany native. Kathy will retell an event that lives in the Flanagan family lore, when Michael Flanagan was interviewed over the phone by famous Irish radio and TV host Gay Byrne. There will also be Irish music performed throughout the evening.
