SUP GIRLIES!!! Saturday 26.9. we are getting OUT of our comfort zones with my impro theatre teacher Antti Eskonpekka!!! scary? what ? noo!! This is NOT an acting workshop. You are not going to have to perform anything in front of people. This is a workshop about getting out of your head, letting go of control and allowing yourself to be in the moment. ★ WHAT WILL WE ACTUALLY DO? We’ll play, laugh, be silly and do different improv games and exercises together. Some exercises are done in pairs, some in small groups and some all together. We might play tag, move around, do little games and react to each other. A lot of improv is about not knowing what’s going to happen beforehand. You might get a random situation like “come up with reasons why you were late” and then you just make things up on the spot. There’s no script and no time to come up with the perfect answer. All exercises can be adapted and you can always sit something out, take a break or step away whenever you want to. Personal needs are respected and no one has to do anything they don't want! No pressure please <3 Remember.. we can do things that make us uncomfortable and survive?? I think as adults we get way too comfortable doing the things we already know we’re good at. Starting something new can feel weirdly scary because you have to be bad at it first ( like me figuring out helsinkigirlies and starting something new ??? You don’t know what’s going to happen and you can’t control everything. And that’s kind of the whole reason I wanted to do this. Just to practice letting go, trying something new and realizing that you’ll be fine even if you feel awkward for a second. ★ FOR WHO? This workshop is for you if you… ★ find it hard to let go of control★ are an overthinker★ take yourself a little too seriously sometimes★ get nervous doing things you’re not immediately good at★ want to become more spontaneous and playful★ just want to challenge yourself and do something completely outside your usual comfort zone ★ ABOUT ANTTI Antti Eskonpekka is an actor, improviser, mime artist and clown, currently studying acting at Laajasalo College. He started improv during the pandemic and basically fell in love with it so hard that it changed the direction of his life. Since then, he’s studied performance in Finland and France, taught and coached improv around Finland, and performed in theatre, short films and lots of improv shows. Recently he’s been especially into clowning and mime, and honestly I feel like he’s the perfect person to make us all get out of our heads and be a little ridiculous for an afternoon !! ★ LANGUAGE The workshop will be taught in English, but if we somehow end up with a group where everyone speaks Finnish, we can just do it in Finnish. Antti speaks Finnish and English. ★ WHAT TO BRING Wear something comfy that you can move around in. Bring a water bottle. DO YOU DARE?? ★
