Wild Fungi and Mushrooms ID Skills Guided Walk

A fun and relaxing foray to discover various wild fungi. Learning key ID features & habitats to better help you identify them! Set within the stunning ancient woodland of Styal country park, this fungal foray should be a lovely afternoon of learning, with the aim of meeting a whole host of wild fungi. From fine edibles to the downright poisonous and all the other bits in-between, we'll hope to be familiarising ourselves with a wide variety of species in a friendly, relaxing learning environment. The aim will be to look at the key ID features of different families, understanding what to look for so as to improve your identification skills and become familiar with some of the amazing fungi that shape our landscape. This is primarily an educational foray, so we'll handle, sniff, scratch and squeeze all sorts, treading lightly but still hands on so as to better cement our learning. This lovely walk will take us down by the river Bollin through both coniferous and deciduous woodland, and should present us with a wide variety of fungi to discuss and enjoy. Conditions can obviously mean our total count can vary somewhat, but the varying tree diversity means i've always found plenty to discuss and celebrate. At the end of the foray, we'll lay out our finds and re-cap on the day's discoveries to help consolidate our learning Note: Sturdy footwear, waterproofs and snacks/lunch are recommended and a notebook can be useful.
