Bunker Down: an experimental media and performance event

During these uncertain times, Bunker Down! invites audiences to engage the work of a dynamic group of UK based and international artists working with film and video, electronic music, sound art, performance, virtual reality, video games, photography and other experimental creative practices. We invite the audience to join us to find a temporary place to shelter, reflect, stimulate conversations and engage a diversity of live performances and artist’s installations in the various rooms, corridors and above ground within the confines of the Bervie Brow Research Station. Events schedule: • Friday evening: 18:00 (ends 21:00) • Saturday morning: 11:00 and 11:30 entry times (until 13:00). • Saturday afternoon: 14:00 and 14:30 entry times (until 16:00). • Saturday evening: 18:00 (ends 21:00) Pre-booked entries only, space is limited. Highlights include Real Life - a new collaboration between Glasgow based performance artist Christine Ellison and audiovisual composer and designer Jim McEwan; the premiere of, Requiem in -6°-, a new electronic music performance by Edinburgh’s Christos Michalakos & Dimitris Papageorgiou, to sonorise the iconic blast tunnel to the bunker; and a performance of Aberdeen artist, Maja Zećo, who will present Defend and Protect as an installation and walking performance in a heavy suit filled with soil, which emits sounds of military drones. Northampton artist Michelle Woolley’s performance and installation Sound Globes was developed at a Bervie Brow residency. Bervie Brow Research Station and Reserve is a historic 28-acre Cold War station on the north-east coast of Scotland. Harry Willis Fleming has led the effort to creatively develop the bunker as an immersive environment for research, education, art, history, and more.
