Practical Volunteer Day - Geological Restoration

Join the Countryside Rangers and Aberdeen Geological Society in restoring the Geological Unconformity at the Brig o'Balgownie. Join us for an unusual volunteer day in partnership with the Aberdeen Geological Society. We will be involved in cleaning up an outcrop of rock on the south bank of the River Don close to the old Bridge of Balgownie. This rock formation is known as an unconformity due to the unusual orientation of several different types and ages of rock. We will be helping to clear vegetation and silt away from the rock formation, as well as clearing the steps and access path down to the riverbank in order to make the area more easily accessible. This is a great opportunity to join us for something different andwhile learning a bit about our local geology. Additional Information: Please bring a packed lunch and wear appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear (that you don't mind getting muddy!).
