A Mystical, Musical WINTER SOLSTICE NIGHT with AWEN The Bardic Band

Master Musical Storytellers AWEN bring you their blazing FESTIVAL FOLK and MYSTIC ACOUSTIC to light up the longest WINTER SOLSTICE night! Join this creative and original troupe for a special evening to mark the coming of Midwinter! From the earliest times, the Midwinter Solstice has been about celebrating the return of the light, kindling hopes of Spring, reconnecting with nature, and bringing a community together in the midst of the darker months. Now you can experience that Solstice spirit, through the words, melodies and musicianship of The Bardic Band! This unusual event is part gig, part gathering – a Celtic-style Midwinter rite fused with a folk music show for all six senses – filled with AWEN’s unique blend of fiery Festival Folk and haunting Mystic Acoustic. The evening features two halves, the first set for the year past, the second for the year to come. The evening is family-friendly, and we welcome children over 6 years who are happy to sit quietly. ABOUT AWEN AWEN takes the methods of the medieval Bards, rebooting them into modern-day sets of fiery Festival Folk and Mystic Acoustic. Skilful story-led lyrics mix with catchy folk-pop melodies, and hooks you’ll be humming all the way home! The band brings a folklore vibe too, with material inspired by the tales of Wessex and Wales, and the myths of Merlin.
