Join Us for the APG on Carers AGM The aim of the All- Party group on Carers is to create a cross-party space where MLAs, policy makers and external stakeholders can collaborate on specific policy issues that affect unpaid Carers. The APG’s core value lies in convening MLAs, carers and sector organisations to amplify carers’ voices and shape public debate to drive policy change. AGM of the APG on Carers on Tuesday 22nd September at 2.00pm-3.30pm in Parliament Buildings (Room TBC). The meeting will begin with the AGM, including the election of office-bearers, before considering the APG’s priorities for 2026/27. We are looking forward to the year ahead and a renewed focus for the work of the APG in 2026/27. In the year ahead we propose to conduct a fact-finding exercise examining issues around access to and the availability of appropriate and adequate social care services in NI. A significant proportion of the exercise will focus on examining the difficulties young carers face in accessing help and support. On Tuesday 22nd September, the main policy discussion will be on young carers, including the impact of caring responsibilities on children and young people and the support available to them in schools and other education settings. We will hear evidence and consider practical actions to ensure young carers are identified early, supported effectively and not placed at a disadvantage.
