Blues by the River: Taylor Lally

Blues by The River: Taylor Lally Brought to you by Lyric Hifi at the Belfast Boat Club We are absolutely delighted to have Taylor Lally with us for our next BBTR gig, following the recent launch of her new EP Casablanca at the Black Box. Hailing from Millisle, County Down, Taylor is an acclaimed singer-songwriter who effortlessly blends alt-pop, indie rock and folk into beautiful melodies. Drawing musical comparisons to Rickie Lee Jones and John Martyn, her songs are deeply rooted in storytelling, heartache and the complexities of growing up in a changing Northern Ireland. A former Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival Artist in Residence, Taylor has built a fierce local following—selling out headline shows, multi-year residencies at the Bangor Court House and being shortlisted for the Northern Ireland Music Prize. She never fails to provide a great evening's entertainment - I heard her at Crescent Arts Centre a few years ago and she was mesmeric live! Fresh off the release of her full-band Casablanca EP and accompanying Radio Ulster session, Taylor is one of the most compelling voices in the local scene and a must-see live act. This will be a mostly acoustic gig with just a duo so expect to hear every detail of her great virtuosity and feeling. Taylor is joined by the amazing Philip Anderson on guitar, look forward to some great guitar solos! We're also delighted to once again have none other than the amazing Alastair McMillan controlling all things audio, so the sound quality is guaranteed to be brilliant! About the venue Belfast Boat Club is a new venue in a beautiful setting so come early and have a look round while you're here. The club is open all day, and for this performance doors open at 7pm, with kick off around 8pm. There is free public car parking here, just a 200m walk to the Boat Club. Over 18s only. The title Blues By The River is a nod to the late Dougie Knight, the font of all knowledge on jazz and blues. Back in the '80s he ran Jazz by the River in the same venue, cajoling major jazz artists visiting the Queens Festival to do an extra night at the Boat Club.
