Mindful Making: Unwind

Slow down and unwind in the Hub as the nights draw in with our textile-inspired Mindful Making sessions. Engaging in art activities has been proven to benefit mental health and help with anxiety and depression, improve focus, and promote relaxation. Try weaving, stitching, and making gifts by hand at the Golden Thread Gallery Hub this autumn with our Engagement Assistant over Wednesday lunchtimes from 12:30-1:30 pm. Our November Mindful Making Wednesday lunchtime sessions will focus on building and sharing skills to repair and personalise garments. Sessions: • Wednesday 16 September: Circle loom bracelet making • Wednesday 23 September: Cardboard loom weaving • Wednesday 30 September: Pom-pom making • Wednesday 7 October: Miniature felt photo frame making • Wednesday 14 October: Halloween garland making • Wednesday 21 October: Embroider a tote bag • Wednesday 28 October: Embellish your own denim patch • Wednesday 4 November: Simple stitching • Wednesday 11 November: Sew a button onto clothing • Wednesday 18 November: Try appliqué • Wednesday 25 November: Sew a patch onto clothing All materials are provided for our Mindful Making sessions, as well as tea, coffee & biscuits. Accessibility Workshops take place in our Hub on the ground floor of the gallery, with step-free ramp access. There is a wheelchair-accessible bathroom on the ground floor.
