The first signings to Noel Gallagher's Sour Mash Label, Manchester legends Proud Mary bring their acoustic trio format down to the cellar! Doors at 7, show at 7.30 Proud Mary stand proudly in the lineage of the Manchester working class bands that came before them -- the Smiths, James, Oasis, and the Stone Roses -- with all the romance and musical defiance that implies. They formed in 1999, taking their name from the Creedence Clearwater Revival song. Unlike some of their peers they never really wanted to take over the world. The four-piece just wanted to make honest rock & roll with the passion of rhythm & blues, the diversity of space rock, and the simplicity of mid-'60s pop music. Noel Gallagher took to their strict dose of heavy rock, and made them the first signing to his Sour Mash label. "Very Best Friend" marked their debut single in April 2001, and a studio album followed that June. They gained national recognition in the U.K. with top ten hit The Same Old Blues. The band played shows across England during summer 2001 and for the next few years toured with, Oasis , Ocean Colour Scene, The Black Crowes, Paul Weller, Neil Young, Ryan Adams and Stereophonics. And now they're on tour again with a new album, playing larger venues and a few exclusive acoustic trio shows - like this one at Temperance! Unmissable
