The Great Global Nurdle Hunt at Kimmeridge

Nurdles are tiny plastic pellets used in manufacturing to make most of our plastic items. All around the world, billions of nurdles are lost to the environment each year, ending up in the sea or on our beaches where they pose a threat to wildlife. The best way to remove these nurdles and other microplastics that wash up along the strandline without damaging this rich habitat is to pick them up by hand. This event is being run as part of the annual Great Global Nurdle Hunt which aims to draw attention to the issue and provide a snapshot on global plastic pellet pollution. By participating, not only will you be helping our local marine wildlife, but you will also be collecting important data which will be used by organisations such as Fidra to support calls for change. Find out more here: www.nurdlehunt.org.uk The event will start at 2pm and will last for approximately 1.5 hours. Please aim to arrive 5-10 minutes before the start time. Wellies are recommended. Alternatively, other sturdy footwear for walking along the beach that you don't mind getting a bit wet. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions on the day. Please bring your own gloves if you have them. We will provide all the other necessary equipment. Hand washing facilities are available at the Wild Seas Centre and in the toilets in the car park.
